Allentown, Pennsylvania, installs 53 LED streetlights from Cooper Lighting and GE


The city of Allentown, Pennsylvania, has installed fifty three LED streetlights in a pilot program to test and evaluate solid state lighting technology. The project is funded by the local energy supplier, PPL Electric Utilities. The city of Allentown is currently working with PPL Electric Utilities on a revised tariff to reflect the reduced energy consumption of LED streetlights. The utility is awaiting approval of the tariff from the state regulatory board.
