Boise, Idaho, reallocates $764,000 of stimulus funding to deploy additional LED streetlights

A successful LED streetlight project earlier this year coupled with the need to meet federal deadlines has led the city of Boise, Idaho, to reallocate $764,000 of federal stimulus funds toward the deployment of a second phase of LED streetlights. The Department of Energy funds were originally allocated for a project at a wastewater treatment plant and a homeowners’ fund to make houses energy efficient.

Galt, California, awaits awards of $680,000 for LED streetlights

Galt, California, has applied for $680,000 in grants to fund the deployment of LED streetlights.

The city of Galt has applied for an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) formula-based award and a separate, competitive grant from the EECBG in partnership with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).

Sunnyvale, California, to issue $1.142 million RFP for LED streetlights this week

The city of Sunnyvale, California, will issue a request for proposals (RFP) for a large deployment of LED streetlights. The RFP, valued at $1.142 million, is scheduled for release on May 14, 2010. City officials will establish the number of streetlights to be replaced based on bid responses.

Waverly, Iowa, to spend $540,000 on LED streetlights

The city of Waverly, Iowa plans to implement a $540,000 LED streetlight replacement program using a combination of funds from the federal government and its municipal utility.

The federal funds are from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program of the U.S. Department of Energy. The EECBG award of $270,193 will be matched by Waverly Power and Light.

California Energy Commission to award up to $9 million for LED streetlight projects

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is reviewing numerous LED streetlight proposals from small cities and counties in California that have applied for stimulus funds.

Many of the LED streetlight proposals include direct purchase of LED fixtures and are part of larger funding requests related to energy efficiency projects.

Pocahontas, Iowa, to use $81,826 Award to Purchase LED Streetlights

The city of Pocahontas, Iowa, has been awarded $81,826 in federal stimulus funds to deploy energy efficient streetlights. Pocahontas city officials plan to use the award, from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Block Grand (EECBG) program, to purchase LED streetlight fixtures.

Spencer, Iowa, receives $52,000 EECBG award to replace LED streetlights

Spencer, Iowa, has been awarded $52,000 in federal stimulus funds to implement a 150 fixture LED streetlight replacement project. The award will be used to replace existing 120 watt high pressure sodium (HPS) roadway lights with the more energy efficient LED technology. The Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program is the source of the funds.
