Foster City, California, applies for $747,939 grant for LED streetlights

The city of Foster City, California, has received preliminary funding approval from the California Energy Commission (CEC) for the city’s second installation of LED streetlights. The city requested $747,939 for the proposed installation of energy efficient LED streetlight fixtures. Funds are expected to be available by June 2012 and will be used to replace all of the city’s boulevard and street roadway fixtures.

San Jacinto, California, seeks bids for LED streetlights


The city of San Jacinto, California, seeks bids for the purchase of LED streetlights.

The San Jacinto project is funded by an award from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. This program is locally administered by the California Energy Commission (CEC). Total funding provided for the LED streetlight project is $151,800. City officials hope install up to 400 LED streetlight fixtures. The final number of fixtures will be based on bid submissions.

Shasta Lake, California, plans for $475,000 LED streetlight program

The city of Shasta Lake, California, has received preliminary funding approval from the California Energy Commission (CEC) for the city’s first major installation of LED streetlights. The city requested $475,000 for the proposed installation of energy efficient LED streetlight fixtures. Funds are expected to be available by June 2012 and will be used to replace all of the city’s streetlights.

California Department of Transportation to purchase and install 65,000 LED streetlights

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to implement a phased program in which LED technology will be used to replace existing high pressure sodium (HPS) roadway lights across the state highway system. The projected time frame required to execute the large scale replacement of streetlight fixures is estimated to be between five and ten years. As many as 65,000 LED streetlights will be installed.

Marysville, California, to purchase 1,000 LED streetlight fixtures

The city of Marysville, California, has received approval for an additional round of funding from the California Energy Commission (CEC). The CEC recently reported that unspent funds earmarked for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) projects were available. Municipal applicants were evaluated on a first come, first-served basis. Marysville will receive $447,790.

Greenville, North Carolina, issues RFP for LED streetlights


The city of Greenville, North Carolina has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purchase of cobra-head style LED streetlights.

The pilot project is funded by an award from an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG), a funding program established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The EECBG grant is locally administered by the North Carolina State Energy Program. The project involves the replacement of existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with comparable LED streetlight fixtures. Initial plans include the purchase of at least thirty-five LED fixtures.

Fremont, California, seeks bids for 401 LED streetlights


The city of Fremont, California, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the purchase and installation of cobrahead-style LED streetlights.

The project is funded by funds remaining from the city’s original Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) award which is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The EECBG grant is locally administered by the California Energy Commission. The upcoming project is a continuation of the city of Fremont’s move to replace existing streetlight fixtures with energy efficient LED streetlights.

Baldwin City, Kansas, issues RFP for Relume and Philips LED streetlights


The city of Baldwin City, Kansas, seeks bids for a pilot installation of LED streetlights.

The project is funded by a $100,000 prize which the city was awarded as part of the state of Kansas’s “Take Charge Challenge.” The competition encouraged cities to focus on reducing energy consumption throughout their communities through energy audits and a switch to energy efficient lighting. Baldwin City will use a portion of the award to install approximately 83 LED streetlight fixtures, including decorative post-top fixtures and cobrahead fixtures.
