Yonkers, New York, issues RFP for comprehensive program to install 11,952 LED streetlights

The city of Yonkers, New York, is planning an overhaul of the city’s streetlight system and has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the project. The streetlight effort involves a comprehensive energy audit, streetlight audit, design, implementation and maintenance of new energy efficient cobrahead LED streetlights. The new LED fixtures will replace all of the city’s existing high intensity discharge (HID) streetlights. The city of Yonkers currently owns approximately 11,952 streetlights.

Menlo Park, California, plans 1,500 LED streetlight installation

The city of Menlo Park, California is awaiting a decision by the California Energy Commission (CEC) for a supplemental award to complete the city’s LED streetlight retrofit program. City officials applied for a second funding round of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) awards from the CEC. The CEC has been issuing awards as funding has become available. The city of Menlo Park requested $739,161 which will be used to replace approximately 1,500 existing streetlights with LED streetlight fixtures.

Webster Groves, Missouri, issues RFP for Lumec LED streetlights and plans to install additional fixtures from King Luminaire

The city of Webster Groves, Missouri, is moving forward with a plan to install and update decorative streetlights with LED streetlight fixtures. The city’s first project involves a new installation of eight decorative LED streetlight fixtures and poles on Murdoch Street in the business district. A subsequent 88 luminaire installation is planned during the summer of 2012.

San Jose, California, issues update on status of its LED streetlight installation program

The city of San Jose, California, has issued a public update on the status of its LED streetlighting program. The city’s streetlighting conversion initiative calls for the replacement of all of its 62,000 existing streetlights. In addition to deciding to use energy efficient streetlights, the city has also committed to installing adaptive controls. The shift to LED streetlighting will enable the city to achieve its environmental goal of energy cost savings and dark sky compliance.

New Brunswick Power will install 72,000 LED streetlights

New Brunswick Power Distribution (NB Power), a Canadian power distribution company, is in the process of qualifying suppliers of LED streetlight luminaires. The goal of NB Power is to replace approximately 72,000 existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights with LED luminaires over a period of five years.

Coquitlam, British Columbia, seeks LED streetlight suppliers

The city of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, has issued a Request for Information and Qualifications (RFI/RFQ) for a supplier of LED streetlights as well as support services for future projects and installations. The city plans an initial purchase of a small quantity of LED streetlights for a pilot project.

Fairbanks, Alaska, plans to deploy 800 LED streetlights

The city of Fairbanks, Alaska, has initiated plans for a new,  large-scale installation of LED streetlights. The proposed project will involve approximately 800 new LED streetlight fixtures. The LED fixtures will replace existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights. The project has an estimated value of $1 million and is funded through the Federal Highway Administration.

Riverbank, California, receives $267,000 grant for LED streetlights

The city of Riverbank, California, has received funding approval from the California Energy Commission (CEC) for the city’s first major installation of LED streetlights. The city requested $539,614 for the proposed installation of energy efficient LED streetlight fixtures, and $267,000 was granted by the CEC. The project is funded by a grant award from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program and locally administered by the CEC.
