Twelve municipalities in Iowa have been awarded approximately $1.2 million in federal stimulus funds to be used for LED streetlight and energy efficient streetlight projects. Administered by the Iowa Office of Energy Independence, the stimulus funds are non-entitlement Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) from the US Department of Energy.

Belmont, California, to spend $133,973 of federal stimulus funds on LED streetlights

The city of Belmont, California, will launch a 200 LED streetlight replacement initiative using funds awarded by the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The award of $133,973 will enable the city to replace inefficient, high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights and with energy efficient LED fixtures.

The city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, has been awarded $159,400 to be used for the purchase of energy efficient LED streetlights. Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, has been awarded $153,800 in federal stimulus funds, a portion of which will be used to replace conventional roadway lighting with energy efficient LED streetlights.

The city of Sheboygan Falls received the $153,800 grant from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Grant (EECBG) program.

Three California towns to spend $223,773 on LED streetlights

The California towns of Windsor, Cotati and Cloverdale were collectively awarded a $223,773 energy efficiency grant which the municipalities will use to replace high pressure sodium (HPS) lighting with LED streetlights. The funds were received from the U.S. Department of Energy.

The town of Windsor is serving as the lead coordinator for the project, according to Windsor senior planner, Kevin Thompson. The regional utility, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), provided assistance with the technical portion of the grant application.

Columbus, Wisconsin, receives $159,200 in federal funds for LED streetlights

The city of Columbus, Wisconsin, has received $159,200 in federal funds, which will be used to convert 283 existing roadway lights to energy efficient LED streetlights.
