Switching 52 million US street and highway lights to LED fixtures would have saved 20.2 terawatt hours in 2010
A recently published study has quantified opportunities and potential energy savings estimates relevant to the LED streetlight sector.
According to the study, “Energy Savings Estimates of Light Emitting Diodes in Niche Applications,” the estimated installed base of roadway lights in the United States in 2010 included 26.5 million street lighting lamps and 26.1 million highway lighting lamps, resulting in a total of 52.6 million roadway lighting lamps.
