Providence, Rhode Island, plans LED streetlight pilot using EECBG award funding

The city of Providence, Rhode Island, plans to initiate a pilot installation of LED streetlights to test the emerging technology along several city streets. The Rhode Island pilot installation will follow the same format as the Department of Energy’s GATEWAY demonstration program which evaluates LED streetlights in a variety of field installations. The city of Providence is serving as the lead municipality in this regional program which also includes the city of Cranston, Rhode Island. City officials intend to install 44 LED streetlight fixtures in Providence and 37 LED streetlight fixtures in neighboring Cranston. The project is funded by an award from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program.

More details about the bid requirements and deadlines are in the New Streetlights article...
