The township of Southwold, Ontario, Canada, seeks bids for a pilot installation of LED streetlights.
An aging streetlight system in Southwold led township officials to reassess municipal illumination and streetlighting needs. The township council, based in part on citizen complaints, investigated several alternatives, including LED streetlights, as potential upgrades to the system. Officials expect to implement a comprehensive streetlight upgrade program over several years. The pilot installation that was recently approved involves the purchase and installation of up to 36 Philips Lumec LED fixtures.
