Nebraska cities to spend $3.8 million on LED streetlights and other energy efficient street and traffic lighting

Twenty-one Nebraska cities will spend a total of $3.8 million to deploy LED streetlights and other energy efficient street and traffic lights.

The Nebraska Energy Office announced that the cities are recipients of approximately $2.6 million in funds from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The federal stimulus funds, which are locally administered by the Nebraska Energy Office, were combined with local matching funds of roughly $1.2 million. A total of $3,828,452 will be spent on energy efficient streetlights and traffic signals.
