The city of Greenbelt, Maryland, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for energy efficient lighting fixtures involving funds from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The initiative represents Greenbelt’s first step in a new effort to establish energy efficient roadway lighting. The $93,000 federal EECBG award is locally administered by the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA). The city of Greenbelt plans to install 80 energy efficient fixtures, including 56 LED fixtures.
