The city of Millbrae, California, recently completed its first significant installation of LED streetlights. The project, funded by a $112,630 grant from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program, was completed in Spring 2011. The LED fixture chosen by public works officials is manufactured by BetaLED, a division of Ruud Lighting of Racine, Wisconsin. City officials elected to use the turnkey program offered by local utility, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). This program is offered to PG&E customers to consolidate the purchase, installation, rebate, and tariff revision through one vendor.
