The U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE) recently issued reports highlighting the performance of LED roadway luminaires. Two of the reports are U.S. DOE-funded GATEWAY demonstration reports. The GATEWAY program focuses on providing third-party data of solid state lighting technology in comparison with existing technologies. Additionally, the U.S. DOE also issued a report detailing the characteristics of the U.S. lighting market focused on four sectors: residential buildings, commercial buildings, industrial buildings, and outdoor, a sector that includes roadway lighting.

Rossford, Ohio, issues RFP for decorative LED streetlights
Funded by an award from the US Department of Energy, the city of Rossford, Ohio, seeks proposals as the first step in the city’s initial LED streetlight installation. The city of Rossford received a grant totaling $210,474 for energy efficient projects, which include efforts involving LED streetlights, traffic and pedestrian signal heads and school zone flashers. The grant is provided through an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) and is locally administered by the Ohio Department of Development. A portion of the EECBG grant will be used to purchase and install eleven new LED streetlights and poles.
