Oakland, California, issues RFP for 30,000 LED streetlights

The city of Oakland, California, has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a large scale conversion of existing streetlights to energy efficient LEDs. Previously, the city of Oakland completed several small scale installations of LED streetlights, including one used in the Department of Energy’s Gateway demonstration program. The current RFP solicits bids for the conversion of 30,000 exiting high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights to LED streetlights.
