The city of Roanoke, Virginia, has initiated the process of testing LED technology in the city’s downtown corridor. The implementation process involves a series of pilot installations which will be used to test and evaluate energy efficiency as well as performance and illumination. Initial testing is being done on the city’s decorative post-top streetlights using LED retrofit kits. The city is currently seeking bids for the purchase of approximately 190 retrofit kits to replace existing high pressure (HPS) lamps.
