Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, awarded C$700,000 for city-wide LED streetlight project

As part of a federally funded energy efficiency program, the town of Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, has been awarded C$700,000 for a large-scale LED streetlight project. The funds, from ecoNova Scotia, a fund for clean air and climate change projects, will be used to convert 1,200 existing high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights to LED fixtures. The existing HPS streetlights range from 70 watts to 400 watts. The number of LEDs in each fixture will vary based on the specific location and its lighting requirements.

Hercules, California, to install 170 LED streetlights using $135,630 EECBG grant

The city of Hercules, California, has been awarded $135,630 from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program for the installation of LED streetlights. The LED luminaires, which will be 50 watt equivalent fixtures, will replace existing 70 watt high pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights. City officials are awaiting final allocation of funds from the California Energy Commission (CEC) in order to begin the project.

Nova Scotia, Canada, awards over $2 million for LED streetlights

The government of Nova Scotia, Canada, has announced awards totaling C$2,063,237 (US $2 million) for LED streetlight replacement projects for cities throughout the province. The ecoNova Scotia Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change is administering and allocating the awards.

Muscatine, Iowa, to install 320 LED streetlights with $92,256 grant

The city of Muscatine, Iowa, has been awarded $92,256 from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The award is locally administered by the Iowa Office of Energy Independence (OEI). Muscatine city officials plan to replace roughly three hundred twenty existing high pressure sodium (HPS) cobra head streetlights with LED streetlight fixtures. The project will be implemented by Muscatine Power and Water, a municipal utility.

San Pablo, California, awarded $169,886 for LED streetlights

The city of San Pablo, California, has been awarded $169,886 for an LED streetlight replacement project. The project will be funded by a grant from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. EECBG funds are administered locally by the California Energy Commission (CEC).

Sunnyvale, California, extends RFP deadline for LED streetlight project to June 16, 2010

The city of Sunnyvale, California, has extended the deadline for proposals for its $1.143 million LED streetlight project.

Lake Orion, Michigan, to install LED streetlights

The village of Lake Orion, Michigan, has received two separate grant awards which will be combined to implement an LED streetlight replacement project. The two awards, totaling approximately $100,000, will be used to purchase and install ninety-two decorative LED post top streetlight fixtures. The project will be funded by a $50,000 award from the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program which is locally administered by the Michigan Department for Energy, Labor and Economic Growth. Additional funds will come from the Lake Orion’s Streetscape Enhancement Project.
