The city of Elk Grove, California, completed its first installation of LED streetlights in October 2011. The project was approved by the Elk Grove city council in April 2011. The program involved both the purchase and installation of energy efficient streetlight fixtures and funding sources included the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program, municipal funds, and utility rebates. The EECBG award was for $166,442 and total project costs were $210,530.

Elk Grove, California, issues RFP for LED streetlight fixtures
The city of Elk Grove, California, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) in preparation for the city’s first LED streetlight conversion project. This project is scheduled to begin in early Spring 2011. The city of Elk Grove is funding the project with a $178,787 award from the US Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. The federal EECBG awards are locally administered by the California Energy Commission (CEC).
